Unfortunately, Apple’s Music app has become too limiting for the vision behind MusicCovered.
It is no longer designed for true local music playback or for managing a personal music collection the way iTunes once was.

For this reason, MusicCovered will move beyond its dual-mode system and focus entirely on its standalone player.
This will allow the app to evolve faster, become more powerful, and offer an even better experience for anyone who wants full control over their local music library on macOS.
