Bit perfect in 7.4

Happy to see your message about bit perfect being available in 7.4.

However, I saw in the bottom of the post an Supertramp SACD being featured. Are you also planning on adding DSD support to this release?

Absolutely! Here at MusicCovered, when we do something, we like to do it properly! 😄

So yes, DSD support is also planned for version 7.4, alongside bit-perfect playback.

After all, if we’re going to take audio quality seriously, we might as well go all the way!

MusicCovered is all about celebrating music in its best possible form, both visually and sonically. And version 7.4 will be another important step in that direction.

But to make MusicCovered truly great, I also need your help!

My ambition is to make MusicCovered the best music player for Mac, and while I’m doing my best on the development side, I can’t achieve that goal alone.

Your support is incredibly important. Leaving a positive review on the Mac App Store, recommending MusicCovered to friends, sharing it in music communities, or simply spreading the word can make a huge difference.

I’m an independent developer, so I don’t have a big marketing team behind me. My greatest promotional resource is the enthusiasm of the people who use and enjoy MusicCovered.

I’ll keep working hard to make MusicCovered better and better. All I ask is that you help me get the word out! 😄

Together, we can make MusicCovered something truly special.

Thank you for being part of this journey!

Will this be native DSD support, rather than first converting to mac?

Also, any further thoughts about multichannel audio support. I have a 5.1 system and would love this to be support in your player.

MusicCovered now supports stereo DSD playback from DSF files via DoP (DSD over PCM) on compatible DACs. Despite the name, DoP does not convert DSD to PCM: it carries the original DSD bits unchanged inside PCM-formatted frames, which the DAC recognises as DSD.
This is DoP support rather than raw native DSD over USB. If your DAC does not support DoP, a compatibility mode converts DSD to PCM progressively during playback.
Regarding multichannel audio, MusicCovered is focused on mono and stereo playback. 5.1 support is not planned, and there are no plans to add it.

Glad to hear you are offering support for DoP.

Disappointed about multichannel since players like jplay, audirvana and veravox all offer multichannel playback. With regret, I will have to switch to these players when I want to listen to multichannel music.

Hope you reconsider this.

Thanks,

Bruce
