Artists File Location not working.

I have a mac mini 4 with a ugreen hub that sits underneath. There is a 1TB NVMe drive in the hub which is where i have saved all my flac files to.

MacOS 26 picks it up as an external NVMe. I followed the video you posted to add the artist images, but when i right click and 'import artist view images' it just sits at the root of my main music folder and not in the actual artist album folder if that makes sense:

Import artist view images destination folder:

/Volumes/ExtNMVe/Flac Files

but in reality as I'm listening to Morrissey - Make up is a lie, it should be pointing to:

/Volumes/ExtNMVe/Flac Files/Morrissey - Make-up is a lie

I've attached screenshot so you understand what I mean.

So, where the desitnation folder is pointing to i can only add the 1 artist images and its used for all the albumns

Is there any way of changing this?

Hi,

Thank you for the screenshot and for explaining it so clearly.

What you are seeing does seem unusual, because that button is normally intended to point to the correct parent artist folder when the library is organized as expected. So I do understand why it looked confusing in your case.

Just to clarify one important point: artist images in MusicCovered are not album-specific. They are meant to be general images for the artist, shared across all albums by that same artist. That is why they are also used when you are playing a track by that artist from a compilation. So the feature is designed around the artist as a whole, not around a single album folder.

Because of that, there is no “trick” or misleading behavior here — the idea is simply that one artist image can represent that artist throughout the app, across the library.

That said, the destination folder should still behave correctly, so I will run some tests on my side to verify exactly what is happening in your setup.

In the meantime, you can still do it manually in two ways:
• you can choose the save path yourself
• or you can manually place the image inside the artist folder and name it artist.jpg or logo.png

So there is definitely still a way to make it work properly, even before I verify this behavior more closely.

Thank you again for reporting it — feedback like this is very useful for improving the app.

The manual way:

1. It won't let me change the save path.
2. I visited 'fanart', downloaded logo and artist pics. Renamed both to the filenames you said and copied them to the proper album directory. Closed down musicovered, restarted and it has now worked. The artist button is now lit up and when you click works perfectly.

If i now right click 'import artist view images' it shows both logo.png and artist.jpg and as you can see in pic shows the correct filepath in the destination folder.

ok, this is truly bizarre.

So the morrissey artist was working. I just got the logo and artist for Japan - Tin Drum and thats working. But the morrissey logo and artist image files have dissappeared. I think when I clicked on import view images on Japan folder is has somehow deleted the Morrissey ones.

Artist images and logos should not be saved inside a specific album folder. They need to be saved in the main artist folder.

The expected structure is a tree-style organization. For example, you would have a Morrissey folder, and inside that Morrissey folder you would keep the folders for each individual Morrissey album.

So the artist image and the logo should be saved directly inside the Morrissey folder itself, not inside one of the album folders.

I have tested this on my side and did not encounter any problems, and at the moment no other users have reported this supposed bug either.

In any case, version 6.1 is about to be released, and I am not seeing this issue there on my side.

Please wait a little, because the update is coming very soon.

Yes, that was the issue — file organization is essential for correct collection management.

It is not possible to mix multiple artists inside a single folder, because MusicCovered relies on a clean and properly structured library to manage the collection correctly.

I’m glad you solved it.

Enjoy MusicCovered!
